This month we are spotlighting the French player Benoît Messi-Fouda (username: bbk666). Benoît is a strong Mahjong Competition Rules player, with lots of tournament experience both live and online. His victories include the Baden Tournament at Mahjong Time and the 4th Austrian Open / Sisi Cup 2009 live tournament. We got the chance to ask Benoît some questions:
Q: How did you originally discover multiplayer Mahjong?
A: A friend came back home with Riichi rules from Japan and taught my friends and I. We are all players and gamblers (billiard players), and this game attracted us immediately!
Q: How often do you play online?
A: It depends on my job and location, but in general, everyday when I can.
Q: How long have you played at Mahjong Time?
A: Since July 2005.
Q: What do you like the most about Mahjong Time?
A: Easy to connect and have a game when I want!
Q: Tell us more about yourself! What would other Mahjong Time players be surprised to know about you?
A: Most of them met me for real and know me. But perhaps they don't know I am a good cook and a good cocktails barman!!
Q: Which style of Mahjong do you like best?
A: MCR rules and Riichi, but my favorite stays MCR
Q: What is better: playing live or playing online?
A: I prefer playing live
Q: On the subject of online play, what kind of advice would you give to the online player? A: There are so many excellent players, I think I am a player who needs advice from them!!
