Mahjong Time - News

In the spotlight - Elifri1

This month we are spotlighting Elisabeth Frischenschlager (username:Elifri1). Hailing from Austria, Elizabeth is a relatively new Mahjong Time member, but has been playing Mahjong for over 20 years! This experience showed during the World Mahjong Championship 2010 in which she placed third among 208 players, congratulations Elizabeth! Mahjong Time got the chance to ask Elizabeth a few questions:

Q: How did you originally discover multiplayer Mahjong?
A:  I got to know Mahjong 20 years ago with friends, but we played it with other rules – maybe it was Hongkong – MJ. I´m not sure. Chinese official I am playing for 3 years. Friends discovered it on the internet.

Q: How often do you play online?
A: In my free time I like to play Mahjong online, but I started at first two months ago. In one week I play for a few times.

Q: What do you like the most about Mahjong Time?
A: I like it most, that I can play also for a short time and I can find other players quickly.

Q: You have finished 3rd in  World Mahjong Championship 2010 in Utrecht! Were there any moments which you would like to tell us about?
A: I liked the friendly atmosphere and to meet friends. The prize-giving-ceremony was exiting for me, because I didn`t know which place I had reached. I thought it would be the 5th or the 4th  place.  After the first day I was on place 16, after the second day on the 6th place and on Sunday I won both rounds and at last I was on the 3rd place.  Hooray!!! All in all I won 6 rounds, twice I was the second and once the third -  29 tablepoints.

Q: Tell us more about yourself! What would other Mahjong Time players be surprised to know about you?
A:  I live in Baden near Vienna in Austria. I am a teacher for children from 6 to 10 years. This September I started with the 1st class again.

Q: Which style of Mahjong do you like best? Why is this your favorite?
A:  I like Chinese official best, but I don´t know the others.

Q: What is better: playing live or playing online?
A: I like both: Playing live you have fun and conversation. Playing online you can play every time and you find players quickly.

Mahjong Time sends a thank you to Elizabeth for her responses and welcomes her to the Mahjong Time community!
