Q: What versions of Mahjong are there available to play?
A: We currently support the the Hong Kong, Chinese Official, American Modern 2007 ,Japanese Modern and European Classical versions.

Q: Where can I find the rules for mahjong?
A:You may find the rules & tutorial under the Game Info section of our site.

Q: What is the difference between Chinese Official rules and Hong Kong rules?
A:Chinese Official has much more scoring possibilities but the games are pretty similar, you can learn about both versions of the game on the game info section of the website:

Q: Can I play for free?
A: Yes. You can play. Click on the “Open Tables" tab (top navigation bar); Then clik on “ Practice Games” Choose the level you'd like to play; Sharpen your skills and crush our bots. When you feel ready to play for real, just become a Mahjong Time member and join our community!

Q: Can I play more than one game at a time?
A: You can only play one game at a time. You will not be able to have multiple game windows open simultaneously.

Q: How do I play this game? Can I play this game by myself?
A: No, You need at least 3 players to start a mahjong game. To start this game you need to go to the “Open Tables” menu then you'll need to click on "New Game". After you fill up the required fields click "create" and you are done!

Q: How do I play for Jackpot?
A: You need to play any Cash Games to be eligible for the Jack Pot.

Q: How to switch off the game sounds?
A: There is a check box on the top left corner of the game screen and you can choose to switch it of or on.

Q: What does the $ icon mean?
A: This icon means that the player has played for money.

Q: How do people see I want to play?
A: In the main lobby on the game "Online players" there are comments by each player and people that just logged in to the game can see whether you are playing or waiting at a table, also you can invite people by clicking on the invite button.

2. PLAYING A GAME

Q: How do I join a game?
A: On the home page click on the "Open Tables" tab. In the box "Members Only Games" choose a game you would like to join. Click on the "Join" button to check for the settings of the table in table info (it is on the right side of the table). Click on the "Join" button and then on "Take place" to get seated. When there are 4 players at the table, the game will start.

Q: What are “Open tables”?
A: "Open Tables" are the games that have not started yet and still need players to join (Mahjong is a 4-player game). So, go ahead and join one!

Q: How do I take a seat?
A: Take a seat using the “Take Seat” button located below the table drawing in your table window.

Q: Can I watch a game being played?
A: Yes, you can. You can join any game as a spectator by clicking on the "Watch" button in table info.

Q: How do I play Mahjong?
A: To start this game you need to go to the "Open Tables" menu, then you'll click on "New Game" after you fill up the required fields click "Create" and you are done! Then you need 3 more players and the game will start!

Q: Can I choose to play against my friends?
A: Yes, you can. Join an existing open game or create your own and challenge your friends.

Q: How to invite?
A: You can invite players when you are sitting at a table by clicking on the "Invite" button.

Q: How do I get out of the game?
A:When it finishes, the system goes onto the next game. You can leave a table any time but your rating could go down because the auto player can't win for you. Also if only 2 players are left at the table you can leave the table without penalty because the rating in this case is not counted.

Q: How do you self kong?
A: When it is your turn you can self Kong or self Mahjong.

Q: How to mahjong?
A: You can mahjong when it is your turn by clicking on the "Mahjong" button.

Q: How to count flowers and seasons tiles?
A:Flower and season tiles are 1 point each. You can learn more about the scoring at this page: http://mahjongtime.com/Chinese-official-mahjong-Scoring.html

Q: Can you explain: why in CO when you declare wrong mahjong because there are not enough points the table is blocked?
A:These are the rules of CO, when you declare a wrong mahjong in CO your tiles are shown to the other players, but you can still play and declare mahjong if you are eligible to do so.

Q: Can I use the 4th tile of my pung to form 2 pairs for my 7 pairs?
A:Yes, you can.

Q: If you have 2 concealed Kongs how do you choose one to kong over the other?
A:There is a pop up message that lets you choose which Kong to display.
